The final edits for the new book Captain’s Memories is taking much longer than normal, and it all comes down to my fuzzy eyesight. \u00a0During the past year, I have been dealing with a growing cataract in my right eye. \u00a0While my eyesight is functional when it comes to daily living, driving, and ordinary activities, the cataract is making detailed work difficult. \u00a0My helpers, my “other eyes”, who mark up copies of my books and send them back to me are invaluable when it comes to pointing out the flaws in my writing. \u00a0But this time, it has been extremely difficult to read the marked up text and then work with the page on the screen to rework the paragraphs. \u00a0I struggle through a few pages and then have to give my eyes a rest. \u00a0Half the time I wear my glasses and then I have to work without them. \u00a0I know I’ve passed my deadlines several times on this book.<\/p>\n
Hopefully, cataract surgery will correct the problem before too long, but if I complete another book before then, I may have to come up with a different work flow for these edit passes. \u00a0Cross my fingers that I can get this problem fixed soon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
