Well, I’ve finished my last day of Archon, sat my last panel and told more private things about my writing than I ever thought I would. Sales were certainly less than my home stomping ground in Texas, but part of that is that there were more writers there with their own tables than I could count, dozens of them. Plus there were a few regular bookstores with their own tables and racks of books, so I was hardly any new shiny presence for the con-goers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still, Archon brought back old memories and it was something I needed to do to get out of my rut. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One thing that always happens is that I am constantly staring at the table across the isle from me. In this case it was a display of swords, knives, blank books and other items. They were all out of my price range, but someday I’d like to get a hefty sword\u2014more for whacking the cattails in the pond than for any combat purposes. I’ve had a machete in the past, but it’s long gone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tonight I’m on the road, heading away from home. As long as I’m over in the medium-sized states, I thought I’d get a little scenery in. Tomorrow, I’ll be in or near the Great Smoky Mountains. If I remember, I’ll take a picture or two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
